Man Utd marked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first match in charge of the club with a 2-1 victory over Watford thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

It is only traditional that Manchester United do things the hard way.

However, the manner in which they commemorated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer'sascension to the Old Trafford throne was not with the walkover win which supporters might have expected.

Of course it was never going to be straightforward against a team as intelligent and hardworking as this Watford side, but the manner in which they performed in a home match was alarming.

It was maybe the perfect wake-up call that United still managed to win while flirting with the prospect of dropped points against a mid-table side which they really should be beating if they want a top-four finish.

The rustiness from a two week break was clear to see, but that in itself cannot be used as fair argument for such a weak team performance, after all Watford had to endure the same.
