Manchester United claim their first win of the season in an entertaining  game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brighton open the scoring in the first half through Neil Maupay’s penalty after a clumsy challenge by Bruno Fernandes which brought down Tariq Lamptey in the penalty area at the American Express Community Stadium.

Few minutes later, the visitor put one back through Fernandes free kick in which Nemanja Matic directed the ball into the box and Lewis dunk sends the ball into his own net.

Shortly after the restart, the home team were awarded a penalty after Midfielder Paul Pogba brought down Aaron Connolly in the penalty area but the referee cancelled the penalty after a lengthy check on the video assistant referee (VAR) monitor to relieve the pressure on the away team.

United took the lead early in the second half through a counter which allowed Mason Greenwood to pick out his teammate Marcus Rashford in the penalty area but the goal was cancelled after a VAR check.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men took the lead after a counter which allowed Fernandes to pick out Rashford at the left hand side of the pitch and the English man dismantle Brighton's defence before putting the ball at the back of the net with a left footed shot to make it 1-2.

At the closing stage of the match, Alireza Jahanbakhsh from Brighton put in cross in an inviting cross into the penalty area and midfielder Solly March heads the ball home to make it 2-2 in stoppage time.

After the final whistle,United were awarded a penalty after Maupay’s handball was detected by the VAR and Fernandes made no mistake from the spot kick with a powerful shot to make it 2-3.

According to report by manutd.com, Solskjaer reacted to the dramatic win after an interview with newsmen, he stated “The consequences of the PSG were maybe more severe but, at this point of the season, it’s vital for us to get three points.

“ It’s been a long, long time since we’ve won a game at the end, maybe towards the PSG game? Last season, we had so many draws. Was it 12 or something? I can’t remember how many, but we didn’t win late on in games like we used to do at this club. It’s a part of the history of this club, so I’m very happy and pleased with that.

“He’s very strong mentally. That’s a big part of being a penalty-taker. Goalkeepers and penalty-takers need to keep their focus and concentration and be mentally strong. Bruno has got one of the strongest mentalities I’ve come across.

“ I'm very happy for Marcus to get that goal. He was just a couple of inches offside on a counter-attack we had, with a great cross from Mason [Greenwood]. We did see some moments that we didn’t see last week. We’re getting a little bit better but I think we need to admit sometimes you get away with one, and today we probably didn’t deserve more than one point.”
